L’Institut Michel Villey est un centre de recherches de l’Université Paris Panthéon-Assas. L’institut est le principal centre de recherche français en matière de culture juridique et de philosophie du droit. Il a pris en 1998 la succession du Centre de Philosophie du droit animé depuis la fin des années cinquante du siècle dernier par les professeurs Batiffol, Eisenmann et, au premier chef, Michel Villey. Créé dans sa forme actuelle par Stéphane Rials en 1998, l’Institut a été dirigé par Olivier Beaud de 2007 à 2018, et est dirigé par Denis Baranger depuis le 1^er octobre 2018. Lieu de rencontres entre spécialistes français et étrangers, l’Institut Michel Villey organise chaque année un grand nombre de conférences et de séminaires (voir : http://institutvilley.com/Activites).

L’Institut publie deux revues :

• Droit & Philosophie (publiée annuellement aux éditions Dalloz). On trouvera le site de cette revue à l’adresse suivante : www.droitphilosophie.com.
• Jus Politicum, revue internationale de droit politique (publication annuelle aux éditions Dalloz et publication bisanuelle sur www.juspoliticum.com). L’actualité de Jus Politicum peut également être suivie sur Twitter, @JusPoliticum.

L’institut participe aux enseignements dispensés dans la filière « fondements du droit » du collège de droit de l’Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas.

Nous avons reçu l’évaluation la plus élevée (A+) attribuée par l’AERES (avril 2008). Cinq de nos membres sont ou ont été membres de l’Institut Universitaire de France.

L’Institut a accueilli de 2009 à 2012 le projet « droit politique » soutenu par l’Agence Nationale de la Recherche.

The Institut Michel Villey is a research centre of the Université Paris Panthéon-Assas. The Institute is the main French research centre for legal culture and philosophy of law. In 1998, it took over from the Centre de Philosophie du Droit which had been led since the late 1950’s by professors Battifol, Eisenmann and – primarily – Michel Villey. The Institut Michel Villey was created in its current form in 1998 by Stéphane Rials, and has been directed by Olivier Beaud from 2007 to 2018. It is directed by Denis Baranger since october, 2018. As a place of meetings and exchanges between French and foreign specialists, each year the Institute organizes a large number of events, ranging from lectures and seminars, to symposiums (see : http://institutvilley.com/Activites).

The Institute publishes two journals :

• Droit & Philosophie and Dalloz for the paper version.
• Jus Politicum (www.juspoliticum.com and éd. Dalloz for the paper version), a constitutional law review that aims to revitalise this discipline by opening it both to political philosophy and to constitutional history.

The Institute also takes part and contributes to the courses and seminars provided in the Collège de Droit of the Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas.

We have received the highest rank (A+) awarded by the French Evaluation Agency for Research and Higher Education (AERES, april 2008). Five of our members are or have been members of the Institut Universitaire de France.

From 2009 to 2012, the Institute has hosted the “droit politique” project supported by the French National Research Agency.
