La Chaire Michel Villey a été attribuée, pour l’année 2016, au professeur Martin Loughlin de la London School of Economics.
Le professeur Loughlin a donné, les 1er, 5 et 8 avril 2016, à l’Université Panthéon-Assas, un cycle de conférences intitulé « Political Jurisprudence : the French Contribution ».
Martin Loughlin est professeur de droit public à la London School of Economics où il enseigne la théorie constitutionnelle et le droit public. Après des études à la LSE, à l’Université de Warwick et à la Harvard Law School, il a enseigné aux Université de Glasgow et de Manchester avant de revenir, en 2000, à la LSE. Outre plusieurs distinctions universitaires (Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship de 2000 à 2002, Fellow du Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin de 2007 à 2008 et Law & Public Affairs Fellowship à Princeton University de 2012 à 2013), il est également Fellow de la British Academy et a été professeur invité de nombreuses Universités (dont Osgoode Hall, Panthéon-Assas, Pennsylvanie, Renmin University (Beijing), Toronto).
Martin Louglin est également membre des comités éditoriaux de The Modern Law Review, du Journal of Contemporary Legal Issues, de Jus Politicum, du Giornale di Storia costituzionale/Journal of Constitutional History, de Teoría y Realidad Constitucional et du Vienna Journal on International Constitutional Law. Il est en outre co-directeur de la collection « Oxford Constitutional Theory » publiée chez Oxford University Press.
